Pakistan's Stone Hand Carving Industry
Present Day Stone Carving in Pakistan
The stone hand carving tradition of Pakistan, historically rooted in Taxila’s ancient Gandhara civilization, is rapidly dying out. This heritage art is fading because modern machine-cutting technology offers faster, cheaper alternatives that manual artisans cannot compete with financially. Additionally, a severe lack of government patronage, diminishing local markets, higher prices, low wages, and lack of awareness discourage the younger generation from learning the grueling craft and make it difficult for people in this industry to survive.

Evens - Unveiling Values
To counter the decline of stone carving industry, Evens, an E-commerce company, is taking steps and actively working to revive the industry. By promoting these unique, handcrafted masterpieces globally, Evens provides artisans global access to customers, sustainable livelihoods, and the international recognition needed to preserve this invaluable cultural legacy.
Pakistani stone carvers
Our Pakistani artisans work sedulously to create stunning stone ornates while incorporating the famous Gandhara art in their work. They prepare Islamic and other religious decor, replicas of relics and artifacts of Mohenjo Daro and Gandhaa civilizations. The schist pot with lid in picture is carved by our artisan in his small shop where he sells his stone products with other decorative items so he could keep his passion alive after his elder brother left this profession. Evens is selling his products globally and locally.
